I Hope

The past few months on social media have been hard for me.  I know there are huge events and issues happening in our world, and I don't want to completely ignore them...but I also don't want to be consumed by the discussions/arguments online that have become so common.

So, for right now, I'm focusing my time elsewhere.  I'm choosing hope and love.

This song, I Hope, was refreshing to hear today.  And the verse below encouraged me this past week:

For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”  If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.   ~ Galatians 5:14‭-‬15

We Love Wednesdays!

Why, hello!  Yes, I do, in fact, still have a blog:)  Somehow, it has slipped out of my routine.  I had a new idea for a regularly scheduled blog post theme: We Love Wednesdays!  My thought is to make this a family effort when we'll each share our favorite one or two things from the previous week.  This week some of our favorites overlapped:)

Snow Day
We all got to share a snow day together today!  We knew the storm was coming so we were able to plan ahead at work to be out of the office today if school was cancelled.  As suspected, we got a call around 5:00 a.m. that school was cancelled and this week we were all able to sleep in while the snow fell.  It was a great day together and truly felt like a day off from life.  We played games, played in the snow, and relaxed.  This was a favorite for Luke, Nora, and I.

Zach's Birthday Party
Last Friday, Luke was able to spend the evening at his friend Zach's birthday party.  Zach is one of his friends from elementary school in Rochester and it's always great for him to see his old friends even though Luke has changed schools.  The boys played lots of games, had lots of nerf gun fights, and ate lots of junk food. What else would a bunch of 10-11 year old boys want to do together???  As I'm sure you guessed, this was Luke's other favorite:)

Wong's
Last Saturday we had our first family outing since Christmas Eve!  We were able to meet my cousin Steph and Richie for lunch at Wong's, our favorite Chinese restaurant.  The food and company were great, but it was especially nice to be out with Brent now that the pain and swelling in his foot are managed better so he can handle some time driving, standing, and sitting without his foot elevated.  For those counting, Brent is 7 weeks out from his injury and 6 week from surgery.

Weekend of Basketball
Last weekend Luke had basketball games on Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday, he had two league games in St. Charles and, on Sunday, he had four tournament games in Le Roy.  Basketball is one of my favorite sports to watch, Luke played his little heart out, and Nora was a great spectator.  Our favorite, though, was that Brent was able to start coaching again!  Again, it was great to be out as a family and to see the boys together on the bench.  This was a favorite of Brent, Luke, and I.

In-Home Massage
Last week, I surprised Brent with an in-home massage.  After sitting in bed and on the couch for weeks no end, I thought it would be a nice surprise:)  A massage therapist we've both seen before was willing to make a special trip to our house with her portable massage table!
