Lately with Luke

Our "little man" is not so little anymore, and I'm continually adjusting to his growth in size, intelligence, and maturity.
  • He is proving to be our early bird.  He is always up before me and, on the weekends, is usually the first one awake in the house.  It suits him well because he is very independent in getting himself ready, getting himself breakfast, and having extra time before the plans for the day begin.  I love hearing his feet shuffle on the hard floor when he comes up from his bedroom for the day:)
  • This boy is active and ALL about football these days.  He's playing his first year of tackle football with RYFA (two practices and one game a week), he's always asking Brent to play at home, he tells us about playing football at recess at school, and spends a good amount of time playing with his cousins. He's also enjoying a small fantasy football team he and Brent created and, of course, doing his NFL picks each week with all the Picker boys (all though I believe Gma is doing picks this year too;))
  • An update on our speedster:  He got first place for the boys in his class running the 1/2 mile in gym. He was pretty proud, especially since he raced against the same boy that beat him last year:)
  • Along with getting his new glasses for sports (rec specs), he also got a new pair of everyday glasses. (We were having trouble with his old pair breaking on a regular basis.)
  • He's loving second grade with Mrs. Parker again.  Mrs. Parker was his first grade teacher and she, like her class, moved up to second grade.  As a result, Luke has about 20 of the same kids in his class as last year:)  (I also like this since I'll recognize so many kids when I volunteer!)
  • Even though he can still be shy in groups, he is a chatty man at home.  He loves telling scenarios from his football practices and games, retelling things he did playing video games, watching sports or cartoons, and reenacting/retelling stunts he does just playing around.  Some days I think he's a commentator in the making:)
  • Luke is an incredibly caring, energetic, intelligent, and nurturing boy and we are blessed by him daily:)
