Two Months

The age of infants in months and weeks always trips me up.  It's complicated....8 weeks does not necessarily equal 2 months, etc.  Anyway, today, September 11, Nora is 2 months old and tomorrow she will be 9 weeks old.  We had her 8 week/2 month well baby doctor appointment and she's growing well (up 3 lbs, 5 oz from birth).

At two months, you are:
  • Sleeping a 6-7 hour stretch each night and have been for three weeks now!  We're loving it and our doctor was impressed too:)
  • Getting into a napping groove.  Daytime naps during in your crib are lasting 45 minutes to an hour.
  • Becoming more interactive.  You're especially smiley after you eat and seem to be on the verge of making some sounds to interact with us.
  • Becoming more familiar to me.  What I mean by that is that I feel like I'm starting to really "get you" and know what to expect throughout the day (which also helps me know what might be abnormal).
  • Eating like a champ and seem to be spitting up less
  • Enjoying the new gym toy we got you, especially looking at yourself in the little mirror:)
  • Good at taking bottles.  You've had a few now and have taken them without a fuss.
  • Still wearing size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothes.
  • Still fighting for your thumb.  The other night you got it for a stretch, but any little movement and you lose it, then have a hard time getting it back.  You still take the pacifier some, but not for very long stretches.
  • Exploring all your tongue can do.  It is sticking out of your mouth a lot now and  you've started making a sort of "clucking" sound with your tongue on the top of your mouth.
  • Still very busy.  It is hard to get a picture without an arm or leg looking blurry because you're always squirming.  You're also moving your head back and forth more and much more quickly (I see a bald spot on the back of your head in the future:))
  • Following us with your eyes even further.  Yesterday you were watching me from our bed while I was at the sink in the bathroom.  You're very aware of where we are and listening to our voices.
  • Starting to look more like a baby than a newborn.  I'm sure we'll really feel this change when we meet your cousin Alaina who is expected to arrive today:)

One of those squirmy legs snuck into this picture:)
